In approximately 1938, Roland Goebel finished school and became a truck driver. In 1942, he became a bus driver for Washington Motor Coach (now Greyhound Lines). On September 18, 1943, he married Maryhelen Treiber. On July 12, 1945, their daughter, Marlene, was born. She is their only child. Mary Helen and Roland lived in Seattle, Ellensburg, and later in Ephrata, Washington. In the meantime, Roland left Greyhound and once again went back to truck driver. Later he worked for his brothers-in-laws on their ranch until his death. Maryhelen died very suddenly on March 15, 1970, because of an aneurism in the lower part of her brain. Roland passed away April 27, 1982, in a cafe in Ephrata from a heart attack.

Services were held at Nicoles Funeral Home Ephrata, Washington on April 30, 1982 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor John Reinmuth, officiating. Interment was at Valley View Memorial Park, Soap Lake, Washington.
