FUNERAL SERVICES FOR
ANDREW ERICKSON


Funeral services in memory of the late Andrew Erickson, for more than forty years a farm resident in this vicinity, were attended by a large assemblage of people, being held on Monday, May 7, 1923 at one o'clock p. m. at the Swedish Mission Church, in charge of Director F. W. Hanson. Rev. Sjoberg of Braham gave an address in Swedish and Rev. Samuelson of Rush City, spoke in English. Rev. Nordstrom of Braham, one of the earliest pastors of the local church, spoke. The singers for the service were: Agnes Sandberg and Lillian Johnson, with Alice Johnson as accompianist. The pallbearers were: John Bergfalk, Fred Warnberg, Carl G. Nelson, Gust Johnson, John A. Johnson, William Bloom. Many floral tributes were bestowed.

Andrew Erickson was born in Sweden, March 13, 1843 and passed away at the Swedish hospital at Minneapolis May 4, 1923, from the effects of cerebral hemorrhage at the age of eighty years, one month and twenty-one days. He was married in 1869 to Augusta Charlotte Johnson. They located on a farm northwest of Rush City in the spring of 1881, where they resided until Mrs. Erickson's death 5 years ago.

Seven children were born to them, one son, died 21 years ago [Erick F Erickson - RJC]; those remaining are four daughters and a son:
Hilda, Mrs. J. Hanson; Clara,
Mrs. O. N. Westlund; Beda,
Mrs. F. S. Nordin all of Minneapolis;
Jennie, Mrs. M. Johnson of Mound, Minn;
Otto Erickson of Rush City and
Hjalmar Erickson, Turlock, California.

One sister, Mrs. Lars Johnson of Rush City survives.

All of the children with their families except the son Hjalmar were in attendance at the funeral. Mrs. Israel Erickson of Duluth was among the relatives present. Deceased has made his home with his daughters since the death of his wife, five years ago. He was always a highly respected citizen.
