Mrs. Alva Mae Dickey Boatright, 76, died Sunday morning (July 27, 2008) at her residence after an extended illness.

She was a native of Vidalia, but she resided most of her life in Blackshear before moving to Waycross 30 years ago. She retired from the King Edward Cigar Factory and attended Waresboro Church of God.

She is the daughter of the late Rufus Lee Dickey and Margaret Taylor Dickey. She is also the wife of the late Floyd Boatright.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Buchholz (husband Stan) of Biloxi, MS, Debbie Hill (husband Randy) of Patterson, and Tammy Boyett (husband Malcolm) of Patterson; four grandchildren, Heidi Wilkerson (husband Joe), Nikki Aspinwall (husband Drew), Shannon Hill and Brandi Johnson (husband Andy); six great grandchildren, Garrett, Kayla and Seth Wilkerson, Kallan and Beau Aspinwall, and Houston Johnson; three sisters, Christine Boatright (husband Vernon) of Waycross, Mary McQuaig (husband Harold) of Manor, and Geraldine Howell of Waycross; one brother, Leroy Dickey (wife Lora) of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday (July 30, 2008) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Ben James Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
