Marie Ellis Hayes, age 81, died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at a local nursing facility after a lengthy illness. Marie was born in Jacksonville, FL to the late Charles K. and Adelia Ellis. Marie was married to the late Merlin Julion Hayes, and they had resided in Gulf Breeze for the last 46 years.
Marie worked for several local banks for other 30 years as an Operations Manager until her retirement. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and dancing.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Merlin Julion Hayes; sister, Margaret M. Ellis; brothers, Kenneth G. Ellis and Keith F. Ellis; and sister-in-law, Barbara Ellis.
Marie is survived by three sons, all of Pensacola; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Walter Steele of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Monday, July 23, 2008 at 10:30 a.m., at the Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, FL. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow immediately after at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Family Services or your favorite charity.
