Phyllis A. Dolph
May 22, 1934 - July 16, 2008
PLYMOUTH - Phyllis A. Dolph, 74, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in her residence. She was a lifetime resident of the Plymouth area. Born in St. Joseph County on May 22, 1934, Phyllis was the daughter of Howard D. and Ruth E. Phillips Roush. She graduated from Tyner High School with the class of 1952. On November 6, 1955, she and John A. Dolph were married in the Pine Creek Church of North Liberty. John died on June 27, 2000. Phyllis always had a double celebration on November 6th, because that was also John's birthday. Phyllis and John ran a Dairy Farm for 36 years. She later worked on the assembly line for eight years at the BPC Plant in Plymouth. She had been a member of the World Wide Church of God in Elkhart. She loved to read, cook, sew clothing and gardening, both with flowers and vegetables, and she took great pride in her "Cow" collection. Her family and her grandchildren were her life. She also enjoyed helping her friends and neighbors. Phyllis is survived by four daughters, Jo Ann M. (Alan) Nichols, Wanatah, IN, Thelma M. (Randy) Reed, Bremen, IN, Betty L. (Paul) Thiede, Windfall, IN, and Alice L. (Ken) Ballard, Plymouth, IN; sons, Dennis L. (Nancy) Dolph, Walkerton, IN, and Dean A. (Cheri) Dolph, Plymouth; and three sisters, Sallie S. (Richard) Becherl, North Liberty, Ind., Barbara J. (Robert) Stopper, Plymouth, Ind., and Sharon K. (Donald) McKay, Boston, Mass. Eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive as well. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Florence Dolph, and a brother, Gene D. Roush. Private services for the family will be held in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Burial will be in Fair Cemetery in North Liberty, Ind. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phyllis' name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
