Ollie Barker Dies

Ollie May Barker, 75, of Edinburgh, retired employee of the Masonic Home Hospital at Franklin, died early Thursday morning at Johnson County Hospital. Mrs. Barker recently had undergone surgery and was recuperating at home until being hospitalized last week.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Grover Myers and the Rev. Mark Myers at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle. Calling hours were held at Eskew Funeral Home Friday.

Burial was at Rest Haven Cemetery with Mark Branigin, Dean and Donnie Barker, Wendell Keller, Kenneth Streeval, and J.D. Lewis serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Barker was born in Adair County, Ky., March 20, 1906, the daughter of John B. and Sally Bryant Burton. She was married March 16, 1924, to Arthur L. Barker, who died June 1, 1963. Mrs. Barker was a 38-year member of the Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle.

Survivors are 11 children, Arlon, Orlie, Calvin, Donald and Johnnie Barker and Delcie Branigin, all of Edinburgh, Marvin Barker of Franklin, Kathy Johns of DeLand, Fla., Sally Brown of Daytona Beach, Fla., Velma Keller of Montegut, La., and Verda Lovett of Houston, Texas; six brothers, Oliver, Oval, Marvin and Milton Burton, all of Edinburgh, Russell Shepherd of Bedford and Prentice Burton of Del Rio, Texas; 44 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
