Chaplain Elmer J Dymmel of Ponderosa Basin Chapel of Mariposa will officiate. Military honors will be provided at graveside in Merced District Cemetery by the Merced County Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr Alcorn was born Oct 3, 1920 in Merced. He graduated from Merced High School in 1939. While there he was very active in football. He served in the Army during World War II and was discharged in 1945. He attended Fresno State College and in 1947 he married Kathy Cavella.
He worked for 25 years at John Roth Chevrolet and 20 years at Merced Nissan as a car salesman. He was semi-retired at the time of his death.
Mr Alcorn was a volunteer fireman with the Merced city Fire Department. He was a Past Exalted Ruler for Merced Elks Lodge No. 1240.
His father, Jo Alcorn, was a partner for several years with J. Vernon Ivers of Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home. His mother, Floy Alcorn, was the organist at the funeral chapel for many years.
Mr Alcorn was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy.
Survivors include two sons, William Alcorn Jr and Robert Alcorn, both of Merced, a sister, Frances Kehrer of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, and three grandchildren.
