Joe Oliver Cox, 72, of Crossville, TN, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2007. funeral services were conducted from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, with Bro. Scott Johnson officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery.
He was born May 3, 1935, in Crossville, the son of Lawson and Mae (Hedgecoth) Cox. He was a painting contractor. He married Ellen Hayes Oct. 7, 1961, and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Ellen Gertrude (Hayes) Cox, of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jimmy Haney of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dayna Cox of Crossville; grandson, Colby Cox of Crossvillle; three nieces, Glenda, Emma and Jody; and sister-in-law, Mabel Phillips Cox.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae (Hedgecoth) Cox; father, Lawson Cox; sisters, Della Cox Meade, Cora Cox and Ruby Cox; brothers, Marshall Cox and Wesley Cox; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Cox, Roy Cox, Roy Blaylock, Bob Bohannon, Gene Elmore and Ross Daves.
