He was born May 3, 1935, in Crossville, the son of Lawson and Mae (Hedgecoth) Cox. He was a painting contractor. He married Ellen Hayes Oct. 7, 1961, and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Ellen Gertrude (Hayes) Cox, of Crossville; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jimmy Haney of Crossville; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Dayna Cox of Crossville; grandson, Colby Cox of Crossvillle; three nieces, Glenda, Emma and Jody; and sister-in-law, Mabel Phillips Cox.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae (Hedgecoth) Cox; father, Lawson Cox; sisters, Della Cox Meade, Cora Cox and Ruby Cox; brothers, Marshall Cox and Wesley Cox; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Cox, Roy Cox, Roy Blaylock, Bob Bohannon, Gene Elmore and Ross Daves.
