Martin Van Buren Kelly, age 90,
civil war veteran, who served in
U.S. Army, Company C, Third
Iowa Calvary, died at 7:40 o'clock Tuesday night in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Woodruff (Edith Sarah KELLY), 617
Fairmount Avenue.
He was born in Frankton, Indiana., Sept. 22, 1841, and moved to Mishawaka 12 years ago (1929) from Lafayette, Indiana. He was a carpenter until age forced him to retire.
In addition to Mrs. Woodruff, he is survived by three sons, Melvin Kelly of Mishawaka; James Kelly of Big Rapids, Mich.; and Carl Kelly of Battle Ground, Ind. [Edward, William, Myrtle, Earl, Mary, Sarah, Edith Sarah].
The body may be viewed in
Sprague chapel until the hour of services from the chapel Friday afternoon, 2:30 o'clock, the rites
in charge of the Salvation Army. Burial will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Members of the American Legion, Mishawaka Post No. 161, serving as pallbearers.

Thanks to Dave & Kristi Bruner for searching for gravestone that does not seem to exist. "... searched the Medill Cemetery this summer with my husband as I have ancestors buried there. We took a weed-eater & walked the cemetery photographing each stone. There were a few illegible ones but we did not find one for Martin, nor was he listed on a Clark County Cemetery Inscription book published in 1971.
