Mrs. Decker had been a homemaker until the death of her husband, Melvin in 1976. She then worked as a care giver in private homes until her retirement in 1985.
She was a caring person who was willing to help others. She volunteered at the Aberdeen Clothing Bank for many years. She was also a member of the AARP, Aberdeen Grandmothers Club and the Cosmopolis Golden Agers. She and Melvin loved to travel.
Relatives include daughters, Catherine Pierce of Aberdeen and Shirley Springer of Escondido, Calif.; a son, Tyrone Decker of Orange County, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jeff Vrabec, Arlene Lopez, Janice Garrison, Tom Hanson, Ryan Springer, Sharon Crawford and Shawn Decker; numerous great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Delbert Arnold and Elmer Arnold both of Hoquiam. Two brothers, Edwin and Dennis preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, June 27, 2008, at the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam. A private urn committal service will be at Hoquiam's Sunset Memorial Park. A potluck luncheon for family and friends will be at the Cosmopolis Lions Club following the service.
