John Mathias Adams died May 1811. Asa was born 1809. The mother, Penelope Byrd Adams Williamson, was married to John Matthias until his death in May 1811, then she married Lemuel Williamson in November 1811.
Mathias, Wiley, Charlotte, and Asa were include in Matthias Adams will.

Asa L. Adams military service in the War Between the States, he enlisted 27 Sept. 1861
44th Regiment North Carolina Co. E.
His son Asa Lemuel Adams enlisted with brothers George, John, William Riley and Nathan 7 May 1862. Asa Jr. as a Sharp Shooter in Co. G 3rd Battalion.
