Otto H. Dubbert was the son of German immigrant farmers
William Dubbert and Caroline Bischoff Schnittker. He had two sisters: Minnie and Selma, and one brother: Herman Edward. Except for a brief stint in the the army during WW I, Otto lived and farmed in Lafayette County his entire life.

Otto married Pearl Carlyle and they had three children: William, Viola, and Earna Pearl, who died in infancy.
