Dena Susan Burgess, RN 1962 ~ 2007 Our beloved Dena passed away Friday June 29, 2007, four and a half months after being diagnosed with Non Small Cell Adeno Carcinoma Lung Cancer.
Dena was born to Sandy L. and Ruben R. Gallegos July 22, 1962. Dena was a Registered Oncology RN for over 20 years. She worked at LDS and Cottonwood Hospitals and was presently employed by IHC Homecare.
On January 31, 1981, Dena married Paul E. Burgess, together they raised two wonderful children. She is survived by her husband, Paul; children, Kody Ruben Burgess (Lynsy) and Chantil Alee Burgess; parents, Sandy and Ruben Gallegos; sister, Angela Madsen; brother, Jeff Gallegos (Brandie); grandmothers, Rose Gallegos and Claire Bergman; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many cherished friends and co-workers. The family expresses gratitude to her pain doctor, Dr. Stephen Lordon, Dr. Kent DiFiore and the dedicated staff at Utah Cancer Specialists, the staff on the 8th floor at LDS Hospital and the 5th Floor at Cottonwood Hospital, to LeAnn Hill, RN of IHC Homecare, the Hospice team of IHC and especially to her dedicated and special friend and RN Nancy Swanson for her wonderful care and support throughout Dena's illness.
Funeral services and a Celebration of Dena's life will be held at Lake Hills Memorial Chapel, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah Tuesday, July 3, 2007, 12:00 noon. A private family viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Grave dedication to follow the Celebration of Life.
