He was born July 5, 1935, in Kilgore, Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Texas. Eddie owned and operated Almand's Furniture Stores. He was the past Chairman of the Board, President and Vice-President of Home Furnishings International Association. Ed was named Outstanding Multi-store Furniture Dealer of the Southwest. He was a past director of Southside State Bank and the Texas Rose Festival. Mr. Almand was a member of Marvin United Methodist Church. Eddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Mr. Almand is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Eleesa and Maurice Wingo of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; sister, Nancy Crim of Tyler; daughter-in-law, Elaine Almand of Tyler; three grandchildren, Ross and Eleanor Wingo of Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., E.H. Almand, IV of Tyler; nieces Rebecca Haney of Arlington, Texas, Jolyn Crim of Alpharetta, Ga.; nephew, Max B. Crim and wife Megan of Tyler; many cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents E.H. and Mildred Almand; his wife Eleanor Stewart Almand; sons, Eddie Almand, III and Eric Stewart Almand; and his sister, Marylyn Almand Unsworth.
Honorary pallbearers are to be Paul Bolt, Tom Mobley, Charles Clark and Kenneth Horne.
