Kidder, Jean , Beulah.
Aunt Kidder was born , raised and schooled in Philadelphia. She was ahead of her time, choosing to be an individual in lifestyle and occupation. She fell in love twice; with men who were intellectual and charming and in her business field. Each time she lost them to her wildly extravagant , very flamboyant mother. After those disappointments she chose to remove herself from Philadelphia society and social whirl and ventured forth to New York City, meeting early on, her partner in life, Alice. They remained together until Aunt Kidder's death.

Kidder was to be buried in Alice's family plot- so they would rest together in eternity- side by side.

As fortune would have it- she was never interred there but to the other side of St Mary's in a grave all alone.

Kidder was my mother's favorite Aunt and the feelings were mutual. She would show Ruth around the city and take her to Rockefeller Center and buy her stylish clothes and make her feel very special.

I will someday make the trip and find Kidder's grave and spread some of my Mom's ashes there.

note November 2009- trip found no stone and no name- so this small stone was made up and placed in Chatham - in the Chrystie plot in Seaside Cemetery.

note January 2010- Upon further investigation and a letter to the cemetery office it was discovered that she was buried in a single grave on the other side of the cemetery, then moved to section E in the month of June 1966 and a stone was placed. Every time I visited to find the stone the ground was covered in either, snow,or leaves. Contributor C Greer went above and beyond the call of duty, found the stone covered in mud and cleaned the stone and took a photo and posted it here. I am forever grateful.
