Sgt. Robert Glentzer, 56, Portland Police Department veteran, and father of Mrs. Carl Price of Decatur, died Sunday afternoon at the Jay County Hospital after being stricken by an apparent heart attack earlier in the day at his home.
Sgt. Glentzer had been a member of the Portland Police Department for 20 years and had worked Friday.
The police veteran was a past commander of the American Legion in Portland and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia; a son, David Michael Glentzer, with the U. S. Air Force a Wright-Patterson, Dayton, O.; two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Ronni) Price of Decatur, and Mrs. James (Rita Mae) Randall of Rome City; a brother, Gordon Glentzer of Portland; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland, with burial in Limberlost Cemetery, with military rites by the Portland Veterans Organization. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
