WANDERED TO HIS DEATH ON DESERT
Paul Boulay, Well Known Miner, Found Dead Near Cima
Attracted by the mournful howls of a dog out in the desert near Cima, Alex Leitch, a miner, followed to the scene and discovered the body of Paul Boulay, a well-to-do miner.
Boulay had been ill with pneumonia, and, while delirious, wandered several miles from his camp and died, is the theory. His faithful dog followed and kept watch for nearly a day before he was discovered. Boulay owned mines valued at about $40,000.
Leitch has been absent from his mining claims for some months, his cabin being, in the meantime, occupied by Boulay. Tuesday he arrived in Cima and secured a team to take him to his cabin, a distance of 15 miles. As he neared the spot his attention was attracted to the peculiar cries of a dog in a gulch near by. He finally decided to investigate and found the dead body of his friend, Boulay, with the dog lying beside it, sobbing like a human being.
Leitch made arrangements for bringing the body to Cima and Undertaker Coates was called. On his arrival he found the presence of the coroner was necessary and so awaited the arrival of Coroner Fuller returning here yesterday morning.
