Arthur Lincoln Godfrey was a Secret Service agent in the 1950s and 1960s. He was assigned to presidential protection under Presidents Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon.

After he retired, he was assistant press secretary in the late 1970s for former vice president Nelson A. Rockefeller. He also did press work for the Labor Department until the early 1990s.

He was a native of Farmington, Michigan, and a police administration graduate of Michigan State University.

He served in the Army in Europe during WWII, and his decorations included a Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart.He received the Silver Star for rescuing a soldier and carrying him back to friendly lines in Italy while under enemy fire.

His avocations included photography, and after retiring, he took freelance pictures on auto racing assignments for the Associated Press. he was also the official photographer of the Association of Former Agents of the United States Secret Service.

He was the recipient of the Treasury Department's Albert Gallatin Award.
