GMG1(SW) Peter Manuel Dean of Willow Oak Cricle died January 11, 1998.

He was employed with the U.S. Navy on the USS Firebolt. Petty Officer Dean was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, the son of Ernest Sanford Dean Jr. and Shirley Ann Olds Dean and was the husband of Jayoung Kang Dean.

Survivors include a daughter, Jasmin Dean and a son, Brian Dean, both of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Elizabeth McGrath of Washington, D.C., Maria Woods of Boston, Ana Dean and Sarah Dean, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; three brothers, Andrew Dean of Lexington Park, Md., Paul Dean of Minneapolis, Minn., and John Dean of San Mateo, Calif. Peter also leaves behind a paternal grandfather, Ernest S. Dean Sr. of Roan Mountain, Tenn., and maternal grandmother, Helen Olds of Fair Hope, Ala.

A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at NAB Little Creek Chapel by Chaplain Richard Saul. Burial will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations of any choice. Twiford Funeral Home is in charge.
