From the Advance-Sentinel, Jellico, TN, Friday, April 31, 1911:

"Death of D.A. Beever"

Died at his home on Main Street Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock, D. A. Beever, aged 44 years, D. A. Beever, or Doc as he was familiarly called here, was born in Knoxville and moved here with his parents in 1883, and has lived here since then. Twenty two years ago he married Miss Mary Perkins, and of this union three children were born, Miss Gertie, the oldest, Mrs. Charles Smith and Louise, all of whom with his wife survive him. A year ago last January he met with an accident while working in the Proctor coal mines, in which he received injuries which caused him to have his left hand amputated. He has not been very stout since this accident, and lately he had been complaining a great deal, however, he did not take to his bed until last Tuesday a week ago. When the word went out from his home Wednesday morning that it was thought he was dying it was a great shock and surprise to the community. He made a profession of religion at the Methodist church, of which church he was a member, during a meeting held here several years ago by Rev. James M. Taylor. Funeral services were held at his home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. K. Willis, after which the interment was at the Jellico Cemetery. The deceased is a brother of our townsmen, A. J. and Ed Beever, and Mrs. W. C. Stanfill of Covington, Ky. We join a host of friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
