Born to John Marshall Varnado (1837–1894) & Jane Victoria McDaniel Varnado (1845–1891).

Nancy married John DeWitt Barlow (1880-1950) on Dec. 1, 1913, in Pike County, MS. They had a pair of twins and a set of triplets.

Six children:
• Hollis Barlow (1914-1988; twin to Ottis)
• Ottis Carl Barlow (1914-1976; twin to Hollis)
• Janie Lee Barlow Bennett (1916-1977)
• Quitman L Barlow (1919-1991; triplet son)
• Quinn Barlow (1919-1990; triplet son)
• Quinnie Barlow Travis (1919-2003; triplet daughter)

Claude Barlow (1896-1987; Memorial# 20601743), who is mentioned in Ottis' obituary, was a son of John DeWitt Barlow by a prior marriage.
