Professional Football Player. A native of Komolty, Russia, he played a total of eight professional seasons in the National Football League (1932 to 1939). As a halfback, quarterback, and fullback, he played for the Portsmouth Spartans, the Detroit Lions, and the Brooklyn Dodgers. His honours include being a member of the Detroit Lions winning championship team of 1935. After retiring from football Gutowsky became a champion bridge player, and was a member of the 1951 national championship team of four. During World War II, he served as a Corporal in the United States Army. He died in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and was buried there.
