Private services were held Saturday, September 7 at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Clay City. Minister Carson Root will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Clay City Cemetery.
Mrs. Abbott was born May 24, 1920 in Noble, the daughter of Charles and Anna Mae Newton. She married George Weldon Abbott. He preceded her in death on March 23. 1984.
Mrs. Abbott was a member of Clay City Christian Church of Clay City and the Clay City Rebekahs.
Survivors include one son, Don Mattingley and wife, Kathleen of Vandalia; two brothers, Donovan Newton and wife, Mina of Noble, Paul Newton and wife, Jeannie of Houston, TX; one granddaughter, Amy Mattingley of Troy and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
