Hilda E. Aukamp, 82, of Vandalia, died at 8:25 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at her home.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with Pastor Peter Kolb officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, rural Shobonier. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday and an hour before services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials: Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Aukamp was born on Jan. 22, 1926, in St. Peter, the daughter of George and Rose (Meyer) Meyer. She married Leroy W.C. Aukamp on Aug. 12, 1945, in St. Peter.
She was a retired employee of Almar Industries in Vandalia and a caregiver for the elderly. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
She is survived by sons, Dennis Aukamp and his wife Diane of Effingham, Roger Aukamp and his wife Bonnie of Oreana, and Steve Aukamp and his wife Cindy of Effingham; daughters, Mary Aukamp of Vandalia, Sandra and her husband Randy Gelsinger of Brownstown, and Janet Aukamp of Vandalia; brothers, Vernon Meyer and his wife Alma of St. Peter, and Elmer Meyer of St. Peter; sister, Geraldine Lange of Altamont; 10 grandchildrenl and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Laverne, in 1984; and two sisters.~~
