Mrs. Elizabeth M. Garris Overton, of Bumpass, VA, made her heavenly journey on April 19, 2008 at Retreat Hospital Hospice Care Unit.

She was one of 15 children of the late John and Martha Hughes.

Her memories will be cherished by her husband, George B. Overton; son, Kevin S. Garris; her grandchildren; Anthony Green, Shedequa, Kimberly, Anthony, Quadre, Shawn and Kevin; a loving and devoted former daughter-in-law, Annette J. Houchen, whom she adored; five sisters, Dorothy Myles of Charlottesville, VA, Florence Cheathan of Chesterfield, VA, Margaret Davis of Philadelphia, PA, Frances Johnson and Alma Mason (Carvie) of Louisa, VA; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, devoted, Rev. Rickie Hopkins (Antoinette); and other relatives and friends.

Her remains rested at the Henry W. Dabney Funeral Home, 518 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA. Her celebration of life service took place on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 12 noon at Mount Garland Baptist Church, Bumpass, VA. Her remains rested in state one hour prior to service at the church. Interment church cemetery.
