John was the son of Daniel R. Rhodes and Mary Jane Miller.
He married on September 9, 1897, Allen County, Indiana, to Bertha T. Yarian.
They were living in Swan Township, Noble County, Ohio, in 1900 and 1910. John was a farmer.
He was struck and killed by the #19 westbound train while crossing the tracks in Kendallville.
