He married Jennie Madeline Hoover on January 21, 1950, and they had five children together.
He worked for the railroad in Wichita, Kansas, and was later employed by Cessna and Boeing. After retiring from Boeing, they moved back to Enid.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jennie, a son, James Jr., a brother, Jess and two half-siblings, Lula and Zewick.
He was survived by three daughters, Mary, Sharon and Jamie, a son, Jon, and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
