Chico Enterprise-Record, August 23, 1973: "Mary F. Ashford". Graveside services for Mary Faye Ashford, 87, of Chico, who died yesterday at a local convalescent hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Christian Service Cemetery.
Mrs. Ashford, whose home was at 1836 Salem St., had lived in Chico since 1945. Born and reared in Grayson County, Tex., she was married in 1907 to Epps Ashford, who died in 1963.
Locally she worked with handicapped children and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Wells and Mary Ferguson, both of Chico; two sisters, Mrs. Tommy Talent and Thelma Caldwell, both of Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The Rev. Nathan McFarland of the Chico Apostolic Gospel Temple will officiate. Visitation will be until 9 p.m. today at the Chico Funeral home."
