He was transferred with his company to the 17th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment on October 14th, 1863, and designated as Company H of that regiment. He served with the regiment throughout its campaigns in Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, & North Carolina as a part of Major General William T. Sherman's Army. He was mustered out of service with the company on July 13th, 1865, at Alexandria, Virginia.
Private Conrad died on December 30th, 1925, on Long Island, New York, and was buried at the Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
