Born August 12, 1919 in Mt. Sterling, Illinois the daughter of Edward J. and Ethel E. Cronin Geisler, Mary Agnes married Harry Joseph Busen on February 12, 1946 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling; he preceded her in death on May 24, 1996.
Mrs. Busen had served as a teacher for Brown County rural schools, the St. Mary's Academy and for 1 year in Burlington, Iowa. After retirement Mary Agnes served as assistant librarian for the Mt. Sterling Public Library.
She attended Pleasant View school in Brown County, graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Mt. Sterling and received a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics from Western Illinois University in 1943.
Mrs. Busen was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling. She was also a member of the Brown County Home Extension, Brown County Democrat Women, 20th Century Club, Mt. Sterling American Legion Post #374 Auxiliary and the Holy Family Women's Guild.
Survivors include 2 children:
Marilyn Vikander, husband Richard of Minneapolis, Mi
Edward J. Busen, wife Nancy of Houston, Texas.
Two sisters Ruth McCrea and her husband James of San Leandro, California and Rose Hosford of Magalia, California.
Five grandchildren:
Sarah Lyle and her husband Dean
Matthew Vikander and his wife Rebecca
Mary Beth, Michael and Joanna Vikander all of Minneapolis
Two great grandchildren:
Hannah Mae Lyle and Grant Kenneth Vikander both of Minneapolis, Minnesota also survive along with several nieces, nephews and her many frieds.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother John Geisler.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 Friday evening at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling.
A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008 in Holy Family Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling; Father Thomas Henseler officiating.
Burial will be in the Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
