A WOMAN FOUND strangled in a snow bank below the elevated train tracks at 4132 N. Kenmore Ave. has been identified as a 35-year-old real estate agent from Winnetka, police said Friday.

Nina Beverley, of 968 Spruce St., in the North Shore suburb, was last seen late Wednesday when she drove from her home after a quarrel with her husband, police said.

Three passersby discovered Mrs. Beverley`s body under the tracks at 6:30 a.m. Thursday. She had several head wounds, said Winnetka Police Chief Herbert Timm. The Cook County medical examiner`s office said the woman had put up a struggle before she was killed.

Mrs. Beverley was a sales associate in a division office of Koenig and Strey Realtors Inc., 542 Chestnut St., Winnetka.

Timm said Beverley`s husband, Michael, told police that he last saw her at 11 p.m. Wednesday when she drove away in a van. Police said he told them that he did not report his wife missing right away because she had left home after other quarrels but had returned.

ON THURSDAY morning, Beverley received a call from a maintenance worker who had found Mrs. Beverley`s purse in a dumpster near State Street and Grand Avenue, Winnetka police Lt. Larry Elenz said.

When the husband went that afternoon to claim the purse, he and the maintenance worker found the van parked on the street near State and Grand. Mrs. Beverley`s wallet, charge cards and cash were missing from the purse.

After moving the van to a nearby parking lot, the husband returned home and, at 7:41 p.m. Thursday, notified Winnetka police of his wife`s disappearance, police said. She was identified that night.
