Isaac C. Pugh "entered the three months service April 16, 1861, as Captain of Company A, 8th Illinois Infantry. At the expiration of this term he returned to Decatur, Illinois, and organized the 41st Illinois Infantry, which regiment served with the Army of the Tennessee.... He was mustered-out August 20th, 1864, and was brevetted Brigindier-General of Volunteers, March 10, 1865..." In 1866, he was a Charter Member of Post 1, Decatur, Ill., Grand Army of the Republic.
