John and Mary (Todd) Pritchett were early settlers of Union Township. Their son James's obituary indicates they moved from Kentucky to Hendricks County, Indiana in 1826. John and Mary were the parents of nine children: Jenny Fleetwood, Harvey, William, Louisa Scott, Sarah Todd, Elizabeth Fleetwood, Mary Martin, James and Thomas. James and Thomas were Union Township farmers with Thomas owning the land where the Pritchett Cemetery was located.
The 1850 Census shows Polly Pritchett (age 69) living in Middle Township (which then included present-day Union Township), Hendricks County, Indiana with husband John (age 69) and son Thomas C. (age 24). Also in the household is her granddaughter, Dorcas Martin (age 13), the daughter of Mary's daughter, Mary (Pritchett) Martin.
