Hazel S. Melancon, 84, formally of Lafayette, died Thursday, February 28, 2008 in Houston. A native of Arnaudville, Mrs. Melancon was the daughter of the late Vincent Savoie and the former Edmie Lertillier. Mrs. Melancon worked as a sales clerk at Montgomery Wards for 15 years. Prior to that she was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress at the Evangeline Hotel.
Survivors include one son, Randy Melancon and his wife, Ellie, of Eugene, Ore.; one daughter, Jackie and her husband, Darryl Hood of Houston; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Markus Melancon.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Russell.
Internment in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum. Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette is in charge of funeral arrangements.
