Dove T. Head, age 97, of 332 East Main Blvd. , Church Hill passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 at her home following a brief illness.
Mrs. Head was born in Lee County, Va. and moved to Church Hill with her late husband in the early 1930's. she was a Chater member of the Upper Room Fellowship Church and was a devoted Sunday school teacher for many years at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Church Hill. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed many trips out west with her husband and later many bus tours with her daughter. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Head, Infant son, Bobby Head, Son, Bill Head. 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Gray and husband John, Sons, Gene Head and wife Oma all of Church Hill, Al Head and wife Jane of Pensacola, Fla. Brother, Cecil Turner of Michigan, sister, Gladys Sarvert of Indiana. Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Cassidy officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday at the Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallberarers will be family.
