He was married to Christiana 'Annie' Whitman in 1891 in Milford, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, across the river from Upper Black Eddy. Charles' brother William had earlier married Annie's sister Ellen.
Charles adopted Annie's son Frank, and they went on to have five children together: Bertha Mae in 1892, Ella Nora in 1894, John in 1895, George in 1898 and Harvey in 1900. George died as an infant. The marriage was unhappy.
He was a farmer, and he belonged to the Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church.
Charles resided with Herbert McEntee the last two years of his life. (His sister Minnie had married John McEntee.) He died of a cerebral hemorrhage after an illness of four weeks. He shares a gravestone with his son John.
He had 6 grandchildren and 17 additional known descendants as of late 2007.
