"Died, on his farm two and a half miles southwest of this city Saturday morning, January 12, 1895, aged 62 years, 9 months, and 11 days.

Joshua Vandruff was born at Rock Island, Illinois, April 1st, 1832, was married to Catharaine [sic] Williams April 14, 1857. Ten children were the fruits of this union, the three oldest were girls and are now dead, the other seven are now living as follows: Clara wife of James Magill, Willis; Georgie wife of L. L. Davison, Charles; Eva wife of J. J. Lawkess, Herman; and John, all of whom reside in this neighborhood except Willis, who is settled at Idaho Springs, Colorado.

Mr. Vandruff moved to this neighborhood in October, 1869, where he lived until his death. His funeral was held on Sunday last, at the United Brethren church in this city, Rev. Mr. Frazier preaching the sermon, after which his body was buried in the new cemetery. The funeral was a very large one, his old friends and neighbors turning out in large numbers to pay their respects to their old neighbor." McLouth Times (McLouth, Kansas), January 18, 1895
