George and his two brothers Tom Grissom and John Grissom, William Norris, Brit Barron, and John Hall were some of the original founders of the ‘Sharp Top School' that cousin Joe Cross wrote about in 1937 of his classmates. The students in the book were my grandfather Robert ‘Bob' Grissom uncle ‘Tom' and aunt ‘Molly' Grissom great aunt ‘Ella' Grissom, great uncle ‘Frank' Langham, and cousin John ‘Red' Grissom. The one room school was completed and open in the Summer of 1874. The original christening "Henry's Chapel" was referred to as "Sharp Top" because the sharpness of the roof. Located six miles East of Troup at the point where the Larissa and Belvue Road crossed the Mt. Enterprise and Starrville route. There is a ‘Grissom Creek' on the map near Henry's Chapel Cemetery located about four miles on FM 13 Southeast of Troup, Texas is where you'll find most of them.
