"Civil War Veteran

Source:[email protected]"

Married Rebecca Ellen Parsons on March 11, 1866 and eventually relocated to Estherville, Iowa in 1891. In 1901 they relocated again, this time to Lone Wolf, OK.

Rebecca and Benjamin Archibald died within three weeks of each other in early 1917.

Surviving children a/o Feb 1917:
Eva Archibald (Toothacre/Toothaker)*
Charles E Archibald
Mrs. J. G. Atchison (first name possibly Dollie; possibly remarried by 1956 under married name Rustad)

Special personal note: This contributor has Thomas family distant relatives that lived in nearby Washita County in Retrop and Sentinel and are buried in the cemeteries there (memorials and headstone photos are in place for them already). Since recently discovering this Archibald/Parsons family that wound up in nearby Lone Wolf, it is curious to think that these families may have even known each other! Wouldn't that be an interesting coincidence? /rkt 2-24-2010

*The married surname is Toothaker; however newspaper obituaries sometimes used the spelling Toothacre as their phonetic version. Sigh. On a personal note, a grandson of Eva Archibald Toothacre/Toothaker was Frank Weston, of Jeffersn County, Iowa. This contributor (who lives in Jefferson County) personally knew Frank for many years before he died in 1998. Small world. /rkt 2-4-2010

Thanks to Rita for the headstone photo! The obituary was somewhat obscured in the section that mentioned Benjamin's birth year; it looked like 1848. Thanks to the new headstone photo this memorial is being updated with the birth date of August 10, 1843. /rkt 2-28-2010
