Ora Stewart Ashton 1922 ~ 2008 Ora Stewart Ashton died at home Friday, Jan. 4, 2008. Born in Vernal, Utah Jan. 2, 1922 to George Virgil Stewart and Inez VanVleet Stewart. Married Herbert Beechler May 20, 1938; he died of black lung in 1951. Married LaVar Hyrum Ashton December 19, 1953. Mom spent her last years caring for Dad, who suffered a stroke 3 years ago. Ora's greatest joy in life was her children and her beloved dog, Gidget. Preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and Ansel; sisters, Gretha Callaway, Georgia Duffington and Florence Mears. Survived by her husband; children, Terry of SLC, Vonnie (Wes) and Lora (Kent) both of South Jordan; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Son, George LaVar, died shortly after birth and is now spending quality time alone with Mom while he awaits his brother and sisters.
