Damarius Curtiss Bassett was originally buried at Zoar Bridge Cemetery, Oxford, New Haven, CT: she was removed to Riverside Cem., Oxford, New Haven, CT when they constructed the bridge.
About 1918 a dam was built in the adjoining towns of Stevenson and Oxford (Connecticut), and, when it was completed, formed Lake Zoar. There was a cemetery at the construction site that was named Zoar Bridge Cemetery that was relocated to its present site and named Riverside Cemetery. Before flooding the old town of Stevenson, everyone in Zoar Bridge Cemetery was moved to higher ground and that much closer to heaven at the intersection of Coppermine and Freeman Roads.
