Rene Laurel 62 passed away on Sunday January 6, 2008 in Edinburg, Texas.

Rene was born in Rio Grande City to Pedro and Maria Laurel. Rene is survived by his children, Thelma (John) Amador, Sam (Veronica ) Laurel both of Corpus Christi, Texas; his grandchildren: Erika, Natalie, Joseph, Landon, Darin all of Corpus Christi, Texas; and "La Madre de Mis Hijos" Rosita; and his Siblings Leonel (Antonia) Laurel, Pedro (Alicia) Laurel both of San Isidro, Texas and numerous nephews and nieces.

Rene will be missed by many of his friends. Rene enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at his 2-R Ranch.

Rene was retired from Texas Alcoholic Commission where he was employed for 26 years. Rene was currently employed by Huerta Law Firm and was the owner of L&L Construction Company.

Visitation and a rosary were held at Cage-Mills Funeral Home on Jan. 8. A second visitation and rosary took place in Rio Grande City on Jan. 9. A third visitation and funeral mass was held on Jan. 10 at San Isidro Catholic Church in San Isidro, TX.

Interment followed at Los Laureles Cemetery in San Isidro, Texas.
