Gatha Lorene Bernard Anderson, 67, of Callaway, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 24, 1940, a daughter of the late Ralph Thomas and Lura Mabel Furrow Bernard. Preceding her in death was a dear sister, Goldie Bernard Tartaglia and a beloved brother, Grady Lawrence Bernard. Mrs. Anderson was retired from Elizabeth Arden with 43 years of service. Surviving to cherish her memory are husband, Everett F. (Andy) Anderson; son, Mark Douglas Minnix; daughters, Sharon Stuart and Dawn McDowell Simmons and husband, Michael E. Simmons, all of Callaway; granddaughters, Danielle Minnix Cole and husband, Randall Wyatt Cole, and Nicole Renea Woolwine and husband, Jerry Lewis Woolwine, all of Rocky Mount, Kayla Lynn Minnix and Katie Dawn Simmons, both of Callaway, and Ashley Renea Saunders, of Vinton; stepgrandsons, Christian, Austin, Logan and Avery Anderson; great-grandchildren, Hannah Michelle Minnix, Ashton Lewis Woolwine, Dakota Keith Woolwine and Ethan Randall Cole, all of Rocky Mount; special niece, Tina Bishop, of Buchanan; special nephew, Ralph Tartaglia, of Roanoke; aunts, Katie Guilliams and Era Furrow; uncle, Pat Furrow; many cousins; and many close and dear friends, including two very special friends, Dot Heins and Betty Sue Sink. Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Lynch Funeral Home, 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2008, with Pastor Tim York and Pastor Jeff Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at the Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2008, at the funeral home. Arrangements by Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount.
