Obituary James Roddy SNEED

On Tuesday, March 17, Colonel James Roddy SNEED, late of Georgia, aged 73 years, died suddenly of pneumonia. He was a man of kindly nature and lovable disposition. For many years he was publisher of a paper in Atlanta, Ga., and afterward was Postmaster of the United States Senate from 1882 to 1885. He was appointed as auditor of the United States Treasury at Washington during Cleveland's administration, and at the expiration of his term of office, came to Chicago in the spring of 1890 and has lived with his son, Percival. A. SNEED, who is chief clerk to the general manager of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He leaves two sons and three daughters living in Georgia. The remains will be taken to Savannah, Ga., on Thursday for interment in Bonaventure Cemetery.
