Obituary

Services for Richard Lee Weger, 75, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Baptist Church with the Revs. Roland Fontenot and Noah Langley officiating. Entombment will follow in Beau Pre Mausoleum.

"Taps" and a presentation of the Flag will be conducted by VFW Post 1982.

Visiting hours will be observed today from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and resume Monday at 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Monday at 11:30 a.m. until the time of service at Trinity Baptist Church.

A native of Flat Rock, Ill., and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Weger died at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at his residence.

Mr. Weger was an employee with Texaco as a gas plant operator for 33 years. He also worked at the Iberia Parish Library in maintenance and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Aline Owen Weger of New Iberia; two sons, Dennis Lee Weger and wife Karen of Weatherford, Texas, and Damon Royce Weger and wife Senette of Lafayette; a brother, Donald Weger and wife Connie of Cedar Park; three sisters, Francis W. Muhs and husband Bud of Noble, Ill., Karen W. Everett and husband Duane of Hanover Park, Ill., and Donna Hopkins of San Antonio; five grandsons, Christopher Weger of Weatherford, Texas, Seth and Dylan Weger both of Lafayette, Andrew and Joshua Weger, and two granddaughters, Cathryn and Rebekah Weger, all of Weatherford, Texas.

Mr. Weger was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Lee and Mabel Ruth Stevenson Weger; a son, Kevin Owen Weger; and a sister, Naomi Christenson.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Weger, Seth Weger, Bud Muhs, Duane Everett, Scottie DeWitt and William Louviere.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Weger and K.D. Simpson.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Wegers' name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600
