Janice Collins Dickson, 53, died Wednesday July 26, 1984 at her home, 1321 N. Crain. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday July 28 at Grace United Methodist Church with Dr. W. Jene Miller officiating. Burial will be in DeBolt Cemetery, Arnett, at 4 p.m., Saturday. Tims Funeral Home is in Charge of arrangements. Mrs. Dickson was born Sept. 15, 1930 at Shattuck and married Bill Dickson Jan. 31, 1948 at Arnett in Ellis Co. She graduated from Arnett High school in 1948 and from Altus Junior College in 1958. She also graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, in 1961. She was a member of UMW, DAR and Eastern Star. She had worked for the past five years as office manager at Southwest Oklahoma Community Action. She was a current co-winner of the Southwest Oklahoma Miss Wheelchair pageant and was to have competed for state Miss Wheelchair honors on Aug. 4. She had been active in working with the handicapped in this area, having helped establish the local chapter of the Arthritis Foundation. She was a charter member of Grace United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Bill Dickson, of the home; two sons, James Dickson, Denver, Colo. and Jerry Dickson, Elk City; one daughter, Renee Dickson, of the home; one grandson, Billy Dickson and one granddaughter, Rachel Dickson; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Collins, Arnett.
