Yvonne Clara Adams was born June 30, 1924 at Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, a daughter to Peter
and Ellen (Berg) Lenarz. She grew up near Kenmare, N. D. and attended school there. In May of
1941 she graduated from high school at Coteau, N.D. She attended the Dakota Business College
at Fargo, graduating in 1943. While in Fargo, in the mid 1940s, she worked for Dacotah Paper and
later moved to Minot, where she was employed by NSP and Stearns Motors.
She was united in marriage to George Adams on December 28, 1950 at Minot. They farmed and
ranched until the time of their retirement in 1983. They also owned and operated Adams and Theis
Variety until 1955. They spent several winters in Mesa, Arizona.
In Lansford she was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Altar Society, the Lansford Park
Board and Lansford Betterment Association; a partner in Prairie Properties, and an officer for the
Lansford Senior Citizens. She was very active in the Lansford Bowling association and Mesa
Bowling Association. She was a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of America. She served on the
Lansford Country Club board, EMT on the ambulance squad, and was a volunteer at Trinity
Medical Center, and the Lansford Food Pantry. She had wide interests in aviation and soloed as a
private pilot.
She is survived by her husband; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Linda Adams of Lansford;
daughter and sons-in-law, Mr. Jim (Arlene) Potter of Allen, TX, Mr. David (Gayle) Donnelly of
Roosevelt, NJ, and Sallie Adams of Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Candace Potter, Jennifer
Erickson, Shannon Adams, and Austin Adams. She was preceded in death by her parents and
grandson, Jason Potter.
