BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. … Harry W. Leverich, 83, 1907 Lincoln Ave., died at 11:22 a.m. Friday, June 28, 1996, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin, Mo., after a long illness.

Mr. Leverich was born March 22, 1913, at Granby, Mo.

He was a lifetime area resident.

He was a machinist and miner.

He retired in 1980 from Kipps-Roberts at Miami, Okla.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Baxter Springs.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Navy Seabee at Iwo Jima.

He married Ann Godfrey on Sept. 11, 1937, at Joplin. She survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Steve Leverich, of the home; three brothers, Charles Leverich, Skokie, Ill., Claude ``Bud'' Leverich, Pittsburg, and George Leverich, Tucson, Ariz.; and five sisters, Margaret Taylor, Port Saint Lucie,stet Fla., Jean Kupchin,stet Lenexa, Kan., Colleen Nance, Kingsville, Mo., Alleenestet Gross, Columbia, Md., and Joan Young, Irving, Texas.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs.

The Rev. Fred Dycus will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Galena.

The family will be at the family home.
