Anna was the daughter of Torjus and Augusta (Andersen) Salvesen. She immigrated to the US in 1911. She married Andrew Drenkhahn on 24 Jan 1916 in Woodbury Co, IA. They were the parents of Viola, Elizabeth, Lawrence Andrew, Clarence, Violet (1925 SD), Evelyn (born SD), and Andrew Olin.

THE MAPLETON PRESS - Thursday, October 18th, 1979 - Anna Matilda Drenkhahn, the daughter of Torjus and Augusta (Andersen) Salvesen, was born July 14, 1895, at Arendal, Norway. She came to America at the age of 16 and lived with cousins in Nebraska, later moving to the Oto area.

Anna was united in marriage to Andrew Drenkhahn on January 20, 1916, at Mapleton, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Burbank and Vermillion, South Dakota areas. In 1928, they moved to the Danbury community. Mr. Drenkhahn died on March 14, 1928. Mrs. Drenkhahn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Danbury and the Women's Society of Christian Services.

Anna died on October 11, 1979, at the Whiting Nursing Home having attained the age of 84 years, 2 months and 27 days.

Survivors include three sons: Lawrence of Chatsworth, California, Clarence of Pierre, South Dakota and Andy of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two daughters, Vi (Mrs. Lorn Rogge) of Danbury, Iowa and Evelyn (Mrs. Robert Kennaley) of Moorpark, California; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren: one brother, Ole Toryeson of Arendal, Norway.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, four brothers and one sister.

Services were held on Sunday October 14, 1979, at the United Methodist Church in Danbury, Iowa, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Robert D. Pike officiated with Mrs. Betty Pike accompanying congregational singing at the organ. Pallbearers were Bill Rogge, Doug Rogge, Roger Rogge, Lloyd Neville, Leon Neville and Terry Krayenhagen. Interment was in the Danbury cemetery with the Walter Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
