Dana E. Hobson

He was born Oct. 11, 1913 in Baldwin City the son of Harry and Martha (Turner) Hobson. He married Doris M. Eberly on Jan. 3, 1933 at Baldwin City. She passed away Jan. 3, 1996. He then married Avis Markley on Jan. 10, 1997 at Baldwin City. She survives of the home. (Avis Markley – Doris sister)

Mr. Hobson was a lifelong member of the Baldwin City community. In addition to his farming and livestock he was a member of the CPA and the Oddfellows. He was also a member of the Ives Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as a board member, trustee and lay leader. He was a 4-H leader for the Rainbow and Palmyra 4-H clubs. He was a board member of the Willow Springs Township, and Sutton Cemetery; he served as a past board member of the USD 348 School District in Baldwin City.

Mr. Hobson died Thursday, May 11, 2000 at the Baldwin Care Center. Services for Dana E. Hobson, 86, Baldwin City were Monday at the Ives Chapel United Methodist Church,Baldwin City.

Other survivors include one daughter, Sharon Sly and her husband Jack of Baldwin City; one son, Dana (Woody) Hobson Jr., and his wife Shelly of Stillwater, Okla.; two step-children Mandy McGowan, Scammon; and John Markley, Quapaw, Okla.; one brother, Dale Hobson, Yuma, Ariz., a sister Doris Hotaling, Kansas City, Mo., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
